The Great Serpent "Naga" Sculpture is a symbol of Songkhla and was created according to the project of Songkhla Municipality to improve the landscape of Samila Beach as a recreation place of Songkhla people.
Feature
It is a round-relief sculpture which can be seen entirely, made from rusty-green brass metal designed by Montri Sangmusikanont (the current Vice-Chancellor of Thaksin University). The sculpture has been created into three parts:
The first part: Head of the serpent is located at Suan Song Thale, Laem Son Aon, with the diameter of 1.20 meters, the height from the base of the body to the top of about 9 meters, splashing water into the estuary of Songkhla Lake.
The second part: Navel of the serpent is located at the center of Lan Chom Dao, Sa Bua, Samila, Laem Samila, with the diameter of 1.20 meters, the length of 5.00 meters, and the height of 2.50 meters. The shape of the body is half-circle to allow tourists to pass under the navel for blessings.
The third part: Tail of the serpent is located at Samila Beach, on Sadao Road (behind the golf course), with the diameter of 1.20 meters, the length of 4.00 meters, and the height of 4.50 meters.
