Description
This community has been founded for 200 years. Most people here are Tai Lue and Tai Yong people who are Buddhist. Huai Sai Khao community forest occupies 13,000 rai, where teak, iron wood, and Shorea obtuse are mostly found. The community was named followed its location which was the forest full with “Ton Pao Tree”. Moreover, Tha River flew through at the river basin. For this reason, the village was named “Baan Tha Pa Pao”. In 1998, the village headman initiated the project to manage Huai Sai Khao community forest by appointing the committee, setting the rules and regulations to handle with forest and other resources, and prohibit deforestation. If people violate the rules, they have to pay fine, and people gave the cooperation very well. People belief in spirit, so they offer food to the spirit in the ninth month of every year. When they are sick, they rely on the spirit and supernatural power. They earn a living from collecting non-timber forest products from Huai Sai Khao community forest. Their life depends on the forest so they live with the nature sustainably.
History
People in Baan Tha Pa Pao speak Tai Lue dialect, perform Jeng dance which is very rare and uncommon today, Fon Leb, and Khan Tok culture.
